This year, a committee of GCHS staff will be choosing the graduation ceremony speeches. Since we no longer use class rank to determine graduation speakers, we are inviting any interested senior on track to graduate to submit a speech for consideration.
The first round of applications is to write a speech and submit the draft through Google by using this link: Graduation Speech Application. The firm deadline for submissions is February 26, 2021.
After the first round is evaluated, students selected to move forward to the next round will present their speech to our Graduation speech committee in early March. The committee will choose speeches for our graduation ceremony in May.
Those interested in submitting a speech are encouraged to adhere to the following guidelines:
Great graduation speeches address the senior class as a whole. Focus on the accomplishments of the entire class, not your personal achievements or narrative. Cast a vision for the future for your fellow classmates and celebrate how much they have accomplished.
While we have had a wild year, the overall tone of your speech should be positive. There is no need to dwell on the current pandemic. You may certainly reference it, but it should not be the foundation of your speech since it does not represent your whole time as a Grant Bulldog.
