5Essentials Survey

Illinois 5Essentials Survey

Parents, students, and teachers across Illinois have an opportunity to participate in the statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This opportunity allows stakeholders to share their thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about Grant Community High School.

On behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), the Illinois 5Essentials Survey will be administered online by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago. The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and test score gains. These five indicators that affect and predict school success are:

  • Effective Leaders
  • Collaborative Teachers
  • Involved Families
  • Supportive Environments
  • Ambitious Instruction

From January 30 through March 29, 2024, parents will have the opportunity to respond to this survey. We are working on a specific date to administer this survey to students and will communicate that information as we approach the selected date. The survey is anticipated to take approximately 30 minutes. Student, parent, and teacher results are anonymously reported to the State, and participation rates will be included in the School Report Card. Students are scheduled to take the survey on Tuesday, February 27. If you have questions about the 5Essentials Survey or do not want your student to participate, please contact the Principal’s Office.
