The Grant Community High School February Student of the Month is senior Alisa Mahinay, daughter of Enrico and Liza Mahinay of Lakemoor.
Alisa's academic achievements include induction into the National Honor Society during her sophomore year and she has consistently earned Scholars’ List and Honor Roll status. She has taken 6 AP courses and has taken 6 AP exams where she scored as qualified or well qualified on all of them. She currently holds a remarkable 5.210 GPA.
Her extracurricular activities include Girls’ Basketball where she has been a Varsity starter since freshman year and voted Captain junior and senior years, MVP sophomore year, 5x All-Tournament Team Selection, Daily Herald Lake County All-Area Honorable Mention as a sophomore and All-Area Team as a junior, All-Conference (NLCC) Second Team sophomore year and First Team junior year, and Lake County News-Sun All-Area Honorable Mention. She has been named Scholar Athlete and was nominated for Girls’ State. She also participates in Student Council, FBLA, and Future Medical Professionals.
Alisa’s community involvement includes service through NHS such as graduation, Business Expo, 8th Grade Enrollment nights, and concessions. She is a Big Dawg Mentor and an assistant coach for Grant Girls’ Feeder Basketball Team.
Alisa’s special interests include travelling. She has been to twelve different countries. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Her plans for the future include earning a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and she will be attending University of Wisconsin-Madison on a full, four-year undergraduate scholarship.
