Work permits or employment certificates must be obtained for all minors 14 and 15 years of age before beginning work. Below are step-by-step instructions on how to obtain a work permit.
- Obtain a job first. A work permit can’t be issued until you have been offered a job and you have a letter of intent on letterhead from your new employer. The letter of intent must include the following:
- Description of job responsibilities
- Number of hours you will work a day
- Number of days a week you will work
- Contact Ms. Carol Rodriguez in the Main Office. With a parent, bring the following documents to Ms. Carol Rodriguez in the main office:
- Letter of Intent from Employer
- Original Birth Certificate
- Original Social Security Card
- Valid drivers license of parent/guardian
- Parental Approval
- Medical Statement (note from physician)
- Principal’s Statement (request from attendance@grantbulldogs.org)*
- Proof of Coogan Account (only for modeling, performing, acting jobs)
- During the meeting, Ms. Rodriguez will review documents with the student and parents/guardians. It may take up to 24-48 hours for a permit to be issued if all requirements are met.
*During the school year, student grades are reviewed by Mr. Schmidt. Students will need to pass all classes with a “C” or better.
