    Dear Parents and Guardians,

Grant Community High School District 124 is excited to pilot updated biology and chemistry materials in our science classrooms this semester. These materials come from the Savvas Realize science program and the Illinois Storylining Working Group.

The use of new materials will not interrupt instruction. Our teachers have collaborated and planned units that fit into their scope and sequence to provide continuity for student learning. The new resources have been vetted and selected because they are highly regarded and support State-approved Next Generation Science Standards. These materials are currently being used with success at many surrounding high schools.

The purpose of the pilot is to determine if these resources should become a permanent addition to our instructional materials. GCHS will be collecting feedback from the teachers regarding the resources to ensure they align with our current goals and expectations. We will be assessing the degree to which these materials meet the needs of our learners between now and April. Our goal is for new resources to support our existing courses and learners.

We are excited about this science pilot and the learning opportunities it will provide our learners. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact any of your school administrators.

    Regards,

Stacie Noisey, Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment

Eric Taubery, Divisional Administrator for Math and Science
