American Sign Language is used all over the country as communication with the deaf, hard of hearing, and in special education. Grant's sign language club is an opportunity for students to get involved in the deaf community and special education studies. Learning sign language through this club benefits its members with opening new career options for students by introducing them to a new English based language. Sign language interpreting, sign language teaching, and audiology are a few of the many jobs that involve American Sign Language (ASL).
The main goal of this club is to create a fun and interactive way for students to learn the basics of sign language and the deaf culture to be an alliance to the deaf and hard of hearing community. A future achievement of the sign language club is all the clubs members signing the Star Spangled Banner to incorporate the deaf culture at football games.
