GRANT COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL
SCHOOLOGY
Dear Parents/Guardians:
As part of our Future Ready Schools initiative, many teachers are utilizing Schoology, a learning management system (LMS). If your student used Google Classroom in the past for any courses, Schoology is the same type of system only more robust.
Schoology provides course management, mobile learning, and support for system-wide communication. It also enables our students, parents, and teachers to engage with learning materials and their school community from the classroom and beyond. With Schoology, students can digitally submit homework assignments, review grades, participate in interactive discussions, receive announcements and feedback, take tests, write academic blogs, and more. As a parent, you will be able to view your student’s activity within the platform. Student progress and activity will be monitored by faculty to ensure a safe, secure, and controlled environment.
One feature of Schoology is the ability to grade assessments and assignments submitted to or taken on the system. Therefore, Schoology also has a gradebook component where you will always find the most accurate and up-to-date grade information. The Schoology gradebook syncs with the Skyward gradebook since Skyward is and will remain as the official gradebook for reporting purposes. Sometimes the syncing of grades may be delayed so the Skyward gradebook may not match the Schoology gradebook for a bit. Eventually they will match. Please look at the Schoology gradebook for the current grade. If you have any questions, please ask your student’s teacher.
If your student is in a class that is using Schoology, they have already been given their login information for their Schoology account and they have been using it.
Our hope is that Schoology will help to provide you with more information about your student’s coursework and provide for better communication between your student, the school, and your student’s teacher. We hope you access this system to engage in your student’s learning experience. Thank you for your time and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Dr. Stacie Noisey
Director of Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment
