College & Career Readiness
As part of our continued commitment to preparing every student for life beyond high school, we are excited to once again run our College and Career Readiness Activity Schedule, now in its third year.
This Activity Schedule will be implemented over four days this school year (August 18, November 10, February 23, and March 30) and is designed to provide students with structured opportunities to explore and build their post-secondary goals. Whether they are college-bound, entering the workforce, or pursuing a trade, our goal is to ensure they are prepared with an action plan for their future.
To acknowledge our students' hard work and progress toward College and Career Readiness, the district has established recognition programs for students who achieve milestones: Bulldog Scholars and Distinguished Bulldogs. Examples of these milestones include creating a resume, researching careers or colleges, completing applications, participating in job shadows or mock interviews, and internships, among others. Becoming a Bulldog Scholar or a Distinguished Bulldog represents a student's dedication and commitment to their future, demonstrating that they have acquired the skills necessary for success.
To support your child, we will be using SchooLinks, a platform that enables students to explore and track their progress toward college and career readiness. As a guardian, you will have the opportunity to join your student in their career and college exploration process and engage in conversations with them about their future. SchooLinks allows you to:
- View the results of your student’s career interest, strength, and mindset assessments to learn more about their interests and what careers might be right for them
- See what colleges and careers your student has favorited and set as goals
- Check your personalized dashboard for upcoming events, as well as important reminders and to-dos for your student
- Complete your own research on colleges, careers, and more to help you have informed conversations with your student
- Compare college costs and explore expected financial aid, scholarships, and out-of-pocket expenses
- Review your student’s course plans
