2016 Inductees

Grant Community High School is pleased to announce the selection of Retired Major Michael Kazlausky, United States Air Force, and Mr. Jimmy Kennedy to the Alumni Hall of Fame.

Alumni Hall of Fame

Mr. Michael Kazlausky

Michael Kazlausky graduated from GCHS in the Class of 1987.  During his years at Grant, he was a three sport athlete, member of National Honor Society and Student Council, and President of his Junior and Senior Class.  He went on to attend the Air Force Academy where he had a very successful baseball career and set many records.  He graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1991.  After graduating college, he went to pilot training and began a career as a United State Air Force pilot.  Michael also earned a graduate degree from the University of Northern Colorado while serving as an assistant baseball coach at the Air Force Academy.  He has flown more than 3,000 hours and traveled to over 40 countries in support of the United States.  He retired with the rank of Major after twenty years of meritorious service with the United States Air Force.  He has served as the Air Force Academy’s head baseball coach since 2011.

Alumni Hall of Fame

Mr. Jimmy Kennedy 

Jimmy Kennedy graduated from GCHS in the Class of 2006.  While at Grant, he was a State wrestling champion in 2004 and 2006, placed at the State wrestling competition in 2003 and 2005, and received numerous wrestling awards and recognition.  Jimmy attended and wrestled at the University of Illinois where he was recognized as an All-American in 2008, 2009, and 2011.  He graduated from the University of Illinois in 2011 with a degree in Technical Systems Management.  Since graduating from college, Mr. Kennedy has been the winner of many local, state, national, and international competitions.  In addition, he has returned annually to volunteer at GCHS wrestling events and share his motivational message.  

Both inductees have achieved distinction in their profession and in their community.  We wish to recognize both individuals for their loyalty and commitment to their alma mater, Grant Community High School.

Our inductees will take part in several homecoming activities, including a reception in their honor on October 6, 2016, an all-school pep assembly, and the homecoming parade.

Please join us for the following homecoming activities to recognize our Alumni Hall of Fame recipients:

October 6, 2016          A reception at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium lobby followed by a Board of Education meeting at 7:00 p.m. to formally recognize the inductions.

October 7, 2016          An all-school pep assembly in the fieldhouse at 12:40 p.m.

October 8, 2016          Homecoming parade on Grand Avenue at 9:00 a.m. followed by a pre-game ceremony.
