2015 Inductee
Grant Community High School is pleased to announce the selection of Major Eric R. Raasch, United States Marine Corps, to the Alumni Hall of Fame.
Major Eric R. Raasch, United States Marine Corps, graduated from GCHS in the Class of 1995. He attended the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana and graduated in 2000 with a BA in Finance and Economics. After college, he moved to Washington, D.C. where he worked for the Speaker of the House as a Legislative Correspondent. In 2002, Eric joined the United States Marine Corps and attended Officer Candidate School until March 2002, at which time he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. Following his commission he went on to flight school and was soon promoted to 1st Lieutenant and “Winged” as a Naval Aviator on April 30, 2004 and designated as an AH-1W Cobra Helicopter Pilot. In August 2010, he began piloting “Marine One” in support of the President of the United States. On April 1, 2013, he was promoted to the rank of Major, United States Marine Corps.
Our inductee will take part in several homecoming activities, including a reception in his honor on September 24, 2015, an all-school pep assembly, and the homecoming parade.
Please join us for the following homecoming activities to recognize our Alumni Hall of Fame recipient:
September 24, 2015 A reception at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium lobby followed by a Board of Education meeting at 7:00 p.m. to formally recognize the induction.
September 25, 2015 An all-school pep assembly in the fieldhouse at 12:40 p.m.
September 26, 2015 Homecoming parade on Grand Avenue at 9:00 a.m.
This inductee has achieved distinction in his profession and in his community. We wish to recognize Major Raasch for his accomplishments.
