TEAM Live

We are looking for students who are interested in hosting TEAM Live this semester. If you want to host TEAM Live and help deliver announcements to the entire school, fill out the interest form. Pageapalooza - #TeenTober

In celebration of TeenTober, the schools in our conference are competing in Pageapalooza! From September 29th to October 27th, read as much for fun as you possibly can. Contact Ms. Stump if you have any questions.

Rules

  • Keep track of how many minutes you read each week
  • Books, magazines, graphic novels, audiobooks, rereads etc. all count! 
  • Reading must be for fun! SSR or independent reading books count.
  • Submit your minute totals via Google Form each week before the deadline or else they will not count

Prizes!

  • Our top 5 readers will win a new book of their choosing.
  • The Grand Prize winner will also receive a food or coffee gift card in addition to a new book.

Seal of Biliteracy Testing
2024-2025 State Seal of Biliteracy Testing now open for registration - languages include Spanish, French, Polish, Russian, & Japanese. Scan the QR code for more information. Upcoming testing date - Oct. 18

 

Student Shadowing Opportunity
Our Instructional Coaching Team is looking for students to shadow for a day! They want to "walk in your shoes" by following your schedule and learning from your experiences. With your help, they'll work to improve the student experience at Grant. If you're interested, stop by the IC office in the library to pick up a permission slip!

Clubs/Activities

Choir

Join us for a night full of singing and fun on Thursday, October 17! There is no charge for admission, but donations will be gladly accepted. The Bulldog Boosters will be serving refreshments at the conclusion of the concert.

Creative Fiber Arts

Do you like to crochet, knit, or do any crafts with yarn or wool? Come to the Fiber Arts Club! This club meets every other Thursday in Room 272 starting Thursday, August 29. Email Ms. McKinney if you have questions or stop by Room 272. Make sure to follow @gchs_fiber_arts on Instagram for updates!

Dodgeball Tournament

Freshman Class Council and NHS are hosting our 2nd Annual Dodgeball Tournament on Wednesday, October 23. This tournament is open to all Grant students and staff. Form your team today, register online by October 15, and start designing uniforms! Most importantly, get ready to dodge, dip, duck, dive, and dodge, Bulldogs!

All teams must attend a mandatory meeting in the library before or after school on October 15 to go over team names, jerseys, and rules.

Special Olympics

Our Special Olympics athletes competed in their qualifying competition for State and brought home several top placements for Bocce ball, including three State qualifiers. DeAnna Clark secured Golf in Singles, and Brayden Henriot and Andrew Jacobsen secured Gold in Doubles. They will compete in the State finals this spring, so keep an eye out for celebration information as we get further into the school year.

Our other top placements include Chris Davis, Gavin Fries, and Claire Watkin in Third Place, and Nathan Pendell in Fourth Place for Singles. Katie Pratt and Julien Tennyson took Second Place for Doubles. 

Congratulations to all our Special Olympics athletes on their fantastic performance, and good luck to DeAnna, Brayden, and Andrew as they advance to State!

Athletic Announcements

Boys Golf

On Monday, October 7, Eros Rabor competed at the IHSA Sectional held at Randall Oaks Golf Club. He finished his Junior season with a score of 95. Congratulations to Eros on his performance, and to the entire team for a fun season!

Cheerleading

Your Grant Cheerleaders will be hosting their annual Spaghetti Dinner on Thursday, October 17, from 4:00-8:00 PM in the Grant Community High School Commons. The cost is $5 for adults and students, and children 5 & under are free. Tickets will be sold at the door and to-go orders are available. Raffle tickets for great prizes and gift certificates will be sold at the dinner. See any Varsity, Large Junior Varsity, or Small Junior Varsity Cheerleader for details and tickets. You can contact the Head Coach, Marissa Kelley, or Assistant Coach, Joey Califf, with any questions or if you have any donations that you would like to contribute!

Girls Basketball

Girls Basketball season is about to begin! That means it is time to refresh your wardrobe with new spirit wear! Check out the program's online store and purchase your favorites before the store closes on October 22.

Girls Tennis

Our Varsity Tennis team had an outstanding performance at the Spirit of the Northwest Tennis Tournament last week. Sophie Lelchuk finished in 1st place at 1 Singles, Olivia Dippong and Vanessa Pendell secured 3rd place at 3 Doubles, and Addison Smith and Sydney Sampson earned 2nd place at 4 Doubles. Great job, Bulldogs!

To be cleared all athletes must:
1. Complete the online registration process.
2. Have a current physical on file.
3. Passed five classes spring semester 2024
All registered athletes/guardians will receive an email once they have been cleared to tryout

Winter Sports Night will be held on Thursday, November 14. Picture Day will be November 12 (Cheer, Dance, Boys Bowling, & Girls Basketball) and December 4 (Girls Bowling, Wrestling, & Boys Basketball). More information for photos and the athletic department presentation date and time will be posted at a later time.

Wrestling Open Mats - Tuesday, Wednesday, & Friday - 3:30-4:30 PM

Wrestling is holding Open Mats for all interested athletes. Join them on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays either in the weight room or wrestling room from 3:30-4:30 PM. Reach out to Coach Johnson if you have any questions.
