Community Information

Fox Lake is located at the southern tip of the Chain of Lakes region. Once a quiet summer vacation village, this community continues to show rapid growth in population and popularity. As of 2010 the Village of Fox Lake had exceeded 10,000 residents. Fox Lake and the surrounding communities are well suited to provide convenient access to cultural and recreational activities. Much of the village’s economic base centers on the summer tourism industry, which sees approximately 1.5 million visitors annually. Boating is a major source of income for the community with an estimated 80% of all Illinois boat sales coming from the Fox Lake area. The median value of a home in Fox Lake is $262,689. The median household income is $67,926; and property taxes range from 6.176% to 9.095%. The major income source for public entities is in the form of property tax revenues, which is approximately 85%. The lack of industry in the community places a heavy burden on individual property owners.
