Grant Community High School is OPEN with the normal school start time.
Grant utilizes the ALERTNOW Rapid Notification Service system as a tool to communicate school delays or cancellations due to inclement weather or emergencies. Via an automated dialing system, parents and guardians of our students will receive a telephone call or e-mail message with notification of a delayed start or closure. For this reason, it is imperative that demographic information is current.
If a LATE START is implemented, bus routes will be 2 hours later than scheduled time and the class schedule will be as follows:

WHEN INCLEMENT WEATHER STRIKES…
The decision to close school or delay the start to 9:40 a.m. is predicated on conference calls with the superintendents from the elementary feeder districts regarding the current and future weather conditions for the morning. This decision generally occurs by 5:30 a.m. When the decision is to close school or delay the start, the superintendent immediately notifies the Emergency Closing Center (provides closing information to all media outlets), activates the Alert Now automated telephone message system to parents and staff and posts the announcement on the school’s website, www.grantbulldogs.org. Information regarding school closures and late starts can also be obtained by tuning in to radio stations WKRS-1220; WGN-720; WMAQ-670; WBBM-780/96.3 FM; WLS-890/94.7 FM and TV stations WMAQ; WGN; FOX; and CLTV.
School officials will make every effort to keep school open on adverse weather days. However, the decision whether students should or should not attend ultimately rests with the parents.
